Shipping Information for Live Jumping Spiders 🕷️📦✈️

When shipping live jumping spiders, the safety of our spood babies is our highest priority. These precious little creatures receive a great deal of care and attention from the moment they hatch, and we do our absolute best to ensure that your jumping spiders arrive safely at their new home. 💜
Shipping live jumping spiders safely requires careful temperature monitoring and specialized packaging to ensure they arrive safely at their destination. Before every shipment we evaluate temperatures at the origin, transit locations, and final destination, monitor potential carrier disruptions, and carefully pack each spider with protective padding inside insulated shipping boxes designed specifically for live animal transport.
Some enclosures, décor items, or merchandise may ship separately from your live jumping spider order. If you are ordering additional items, please refer to our Shipping Information for Decor & Accessories page for more details. ✨
Below you'll find all the information and policies regarding the shipping of your new spood!

Shipping Day 📅
To minimize travel time and stress, all live jumping spiders are shipped using FedEx Priority Overnight only, which is the safest and fastest shipping method available for live animals. 🕸️✨
• Live spider shipments are sent on Tuesdays (weather permitting).
• If Tuesday falls on a holiday, shipping will be on Wednesday instead.
• Orders placed on Mondays and Tuesdays will ship the following week, so that we have enough time to prepare the safest shipment possible.
After placing your order, we'll email you with your available shipping options. This includes your nearest FedEx Hub, whether shipping is safe to your location that week, and whether temperatures are suitable for home delivery (if that's your preferred option).
To help speed up the process, you may leave a note at checkout indicating whether you prefer Home Delivery or FedEx Hub Pickup. If you already know your preferred FedEx Hub location, feel free to include it in the order comments as well.
We cannot ship your order until we receive your confirmation, so please keep an eye on the email address provided at checkout and be sure to check your spam or junk folder.
If we do not receive a response within a reasonable timeframe, we may need to cancel the order.
If you'd like to check shipping conditions yourself, you can compare your local temperatures using our Weather Shipping Guide ✨
Important:
“Overnight shipping” does NOT mean your order will arrive the following day. It means your spider will ship overnight on our next scheduled shipping day.
You will receive a FedEx tracking number via email no later than the day of shipment, so please monitor your email and check your spam folder just in case. 📧✨
Shipping Availability (Continental United States Only)
Little Spoods is based in the United States and we currently ship within the continental United States only. Customers are responsible for ensuring that the keeping of jumping spiders is permitted in their local area before placing an order.
We also offer local pickup in North Fort Myers, Florida, US (Southwest Florida).
FedEx Hub Pickup (Recommended) 🏬
Shipping to a FedEx Hub that accepts live animals is the safest option for live jumping spider shipments.
When shipped to a hub, your package remains inside a climate-controlled facility until pickup rather than sitting in a delivery truck exposed to outdoor temperatures.
If you'd like to check yourself what's your nearest hub, you can do so here.
• Enter your ZIP code using the FedEx locator
• Filter locations that allow “Dangerous Goods” (these locations also accept live animals).
Not all FedEx locations accept live animals. After you place your order, we will contact you and email you with your available options.
The person picking up the package must present a valid ID matching the name on the shipping label (the name provided as "Ship to").
Packages are usually ready for pickup around 10:30 AM local time.
For the safety of the animals, packages must be picked up the same day they arrive, ideally within 2 hours (in order to be covered by our LAG). 🕷️
If the name of the person picking up must be changed after the shipping label has been created, a $20 surcharge will apply. Once the package has shipped, the pick-up person's name cannot be modified.
Home Delivery 🏡
Home delivery may be available when weather conditions allow. We can ship to a home address (or place of work) only when temperatures remain between 45°F and 90°F for the entire delivery day. No exceptions.
If you choose home delivery:
• Someone must be available all day to receive the package
• The package must be brought indoors immediately
Live Arrival Guarantee is NOT offered for home deliveries.
Shipping Temperatures 🌤️
For an easy reference, please review the Shipping Weather Guide below ✨
- Transit temperatures: Tuesday & Wednesday (Memphis, TN)
- Delivery temperatures: Wednesday (your location)
These temperatures help determine whether conditions are safe for your upcoming shipment and whether your spider can be delivered to your home or should be held for pickup at a FedEx Hub (the safest option for live animal shipments).
🕸️ Not sure how to read this? Don't worry! This guide is provided for your reference only. We'll always review the temperatures ourselves and let you know if shipping isn't possible that week or if a different delivery method is recommended.
If temperatures are not safe for shipping, we'll happily hold your spider until conditions improve. Please keep an eye on your email after placing an order, and be sure to check your spam folder just in case! 🌙
For a quick visual reference, see the temperature guidelines below 💜

Safe Packaging & Temperature Protection 📦
Our spiders are shipped in FedEx-approved insulated boxes designed specifically for live animal transport.
Each jumping spider travels inside a secure cup containing soft padding and moist paper towels, helping cushion them and maintain humidity during transit. 🕷️✨
Depending on weather conditions we may include heat or cold packs.
Phase Packs
Phase packs are optional add-ons available for purchase here.
These specialized packs stabilize temperatures around 72°F inside the shipping box and help extend the effectiveness of heat or cold packs.
They are highly recommended, especially when temperatures are under 45°F or above 90°F.
Shipping Delays 🚚
Shipping live animals requires careful planning and monitoring of multiple factors to ensure the safety of our spiders.
Occasionally circumstances outside of our control may affect shipping schedules. These situations fall into two categories:
Pre-Shipment Disruptions (Shipping May Be Delayed)
Sometimes we may become aware of issues before shipping (up until the same shipping day), such as:
• Severe weather conditions
• Carrier service disruptions
• Unexpected transit delays affecting the route
• Other logistical concerns that could compromise safe delivery
In these situations, we may delay shipping. In rare cases, shipping may be delayed for a week or longer while the disruption lasts in order to ensure the safety of the spiders.
Our spiders will remain safely in our care during this time, and customers will always be notified by email with any updates regarding their shipment.
Because these circumstances are completely outside of our control and involve the safety of live animals, orders cannot be canceled or refunded due to shipping delays caused by any of these conditions.
Carrier Delays After Shipment
Occasionally FedEx may experience delays after a package has already shipped, due to weather conditions, mechanical issues, logistical disruptions, or other carrier-related circumstances.
Once a package has been dropped off with FedEx, the carrier becomes responsible for the shipment and delivery times are outside of our control.
We carefully package our spiders with potential delays in mind, and they should remain safe even if delivery is delayed by an additional 1–2 days.
Please note that carrier delays are outside of our control and will void the Live Arrival Guarantee if delivered more than 1 day after the original scheduled delivery date.
If a spider unfortunately arrives later than scheduled or deceased due to a carrier delay, we cannot offer a refund. A replacement may be offered when possible, but shipping costs for the replacement shipment must be paid by the customer.
Live Arrival Guarantee 🕷️
Our Live Arrival Guarantee for jumping spiders applies ONLY when all of the following conditions are met:
- FedEx Priority Overnight shipping is used
- Shipment is sent to a FedEx Hub
- The package is picked up within 2 hours of becoming available for pickup
- We are notified within 1 hour after marked as delivered
- The package wasn't delayed by the carrier for more than 1 day
- The FedEx hub address provided was of a hub that allows live animals and is correct and deliverable
The Live Arrival Guarantee does NOT apply to home delivery shipments.
If a spider arrives deceased (DOA):
• We must be notified within 1 hour of delivery or pickup
• Clear photos and video must be provided
If the guarantee is approved:
• A replacement spider or store credit for the amount of the spider will be offered
• Shipping costs for the replacement shipment must be paid by the customer
Refunds are not issued for live animals.
Unclaimed or Undeliverable Packages 📦
For the safety of our spiders, it is very important that shipments are received promptly after delivery.
If your order is shipped to a FedEx Hub for pickup, we ask that packages be picked up as soon as possible after arrival, ideally within 2 hours (in order to be covered by our LAG). If a package remains unclaimed for 24 hours or longer, we may request that FedEx return it to us. These are live animals and we cannot allow them to sit at a carrier facility for extended periods of time, putting their lives at risk.
Customers are responsible for ensuring that the shipping address provided at checkout is correct and deliverable. If a package is returned to us due to an incorrect address, failed delivery attempts, or because it was not claimed, the order will not be eligible for a refund. On a case-by-case basis, we may agree re-ship the spider(s), but additional shipping costs will be the responsibility of the customer.
We understand that unexpected situations can happen. If something arises that may prevent you from receiving your package, please contact us as soon as possible so we can work together to ensure the spider’s safety.
When Your Spider Arrives 🕷️✨
Please unpack your jumping spider as soon as possible after delivery.
If you cannot unpack the package immediately, remove any heat or cold packs once at room temperature to avoid temperature spikes.
Jumping spiders are curious little explorers, so open the cup carefully in a safe space where they cannot easily escape!
When your spider arrives, please follow our How to Unpack Your Jumping Spider After Shipping guide for step-by-step instructions to safely introduce your new spood to their enclosure.
