About Little Spoods

Little Spoods began with one tiny jumping spider named May and a whole lot of curiosity.

I had been completely fascinated by these incredible little creatures for quite some time, spending countless hours learning everything I could about them. Then, for Christmas, my husband surprised me with an orange Regal jumping spider female. Since Regal Jumping Spiders are native to Florida, where we live, it made welcoming my very first little spood feel even more special. I thought I was going to love her... but she completely exceeded every expectation I had.

She wasn't just beautiful, she was curious, smart and endlessly entertaining. I loved interacting with her, but I also found myself spending hours simply watching her explore her enclosure, hunt and go about her day. Before long, one jumping spider became two... then three... and I knew this hobby had become something much more.

As my collection grew, I discovered that I loved creating beautiful little homes for them just as much as I loved caring for them. Back in 2023, there weren't many options for jumping spider enclosures or decorations, so I began designing and making my own by hand with resin and other safe materials. After sharing them on social media, people started asking where they could get them too, which eventually led to opening our Little Spoods Etsy shop so I could share my creations with other jumping spider keepers.

Not long after, another dream began to grow.

Having previously bred hognose snakes, I already had experience with captive breeding, and I couldn't stop thinking about how wonderful it would be to help more people discover these amazing little animals. Every little spood would represent another opportunity for someone to fall in love with jumping spiders the way I had.

One of the things that fascinates me most is the incredible variety of colorations found in Regal Jumping Spiders. Their colors, patterns, and personalities are all wonderfully unique, but I became especially captivated by the beautiful white Regals. Over time, I also began keeping other incredible species, including Phidippus otiosus, Phidippus mystaceus, and Phidippus audax, and quickly fell in love with their unique personalities and beauty.

As Little Spoods continued to grow, I wanted to create something that truly reflected the magic I saw in these tiny creatures. That dream became the Imaginarium Enclosures, inspired by a style that feels unmistakably Little Spoods: whimsical, timeless, a little mystical, and with just a touch of gothic charm.

Some of my proudest moments, however, have nothing to do with breeding or designing.

Watching my son, Axel, grow up with a genuine appreciation for every tiny life has been one of the greatest gifts this hobby has given our family. And perhaps my favorite success story of all is that these tiny spiders completely cured my husband's arachnophobia. The same person who surprised me with my very first jumping spider now appreciates them just as much as I do.

Above all, I'm incredibly grateful to every person who has welcomed one of our little spoods into their family. Whether you've adopted a jumping spider, decorated an enclosure with one of our pieces, or simply stopped by to learn more about these amazing little creatures, thank you for being part of this journey and for helping show the world just how extraordinary jumping spiders truly are.
